HPA recommends ALL dogs (*Sires & Dams) applying for litter papers to have genetic clearances (*clear status) on file with HPA for MPS VI, PLL, Cystinuria, D as well as a DNA profile.
ALL dogs planned to be used for breeding purposes from HPA/ACR bloodlines are recommended to be Parent Verified.
It is the responsibility of the owner to supply HPA with the
Parental Verification Documents if they wish for them to be included on pedigrees.
MPS VI, PLL, Cystinuria and DM are all major concerns in the Min-Pin and Harlie Breeds and are detrimental to the breed.
These debilitating diseases make it necessary to protect the breed by requiring only animals of "TESTED" status be used for breeding purposes prior to 2023. Dedicated-Responsible breeders have worked diligently at great expense to clear their lines of DM and dedicated-responsible breeders will continue to Test to produce the healthiest offsprig possible.
HPA highly commends those who do Genetic Testing.
HPA recommends DNA profiles and Parentage Verification on every dog used for breeding purposes so as to positively identify offspring from both Dam and Sire.
HPA has partnered with "Orivet Services" for genetic testing.
At the request of the HPA, Orivet put together a Genetic Panel for the Harlequin Pinscher.
We recommend the Orivet "Harlequin Pinscher Full Breed Profile" Test.
We will accept test results from other Companies as long as they meet our requirements and the DNA profile is in Letter Form to accommodate our system with Parental Verification Documents.
Parentage Verification Documentation is recommended for ALL Breeding Dogs which were the result of 2 HPA Registered Parents.
